« What Makes a Good Stock Investment Thesis - Shaheen Wirk »

In Chapter 3 of 15 in his 2010 Capture Your Flag interview with host Erik Michielsen, hedge fund analyst and MD/MBA Shaheen Wirk details what makes a good investment thesis. He notes there is a different story for every idea, investment, and company. He highlights market opportunity and available means to access it. Second, he notes catalyst, time post or an event to move the stock up or down. Competitive dynamics are key to understanding what it takes to win. Valuation provides the financial foundation for pricing. He emphasizes understanding management. Lastly, Wirk highlights the importance of the differentiating element that separates it from consensus. Wirk earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in biology and a joint degree of Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration (MD / MBA) from Duke University.  He is currently a senior analyst at Bridger Capital hedge fund and is active with the Robertson Scholars Program.
